A complete education demands not only training of the intellect/students but also training of the inner mind as well. And this simply means the formation of character is as important as the acquisition of knowledge.

Again the intellectual ability, is no proof that we will be able to master the difficulty of life and the right principles of action to take in time of distress

Although, it seems most people still have a fairly strong conception of what virtue and ethical standard is about, so for them the effort to live a virtuous life will not motivate many of their actions.

We are told, that ethics is used to address the very question of “How we should behave towards others”.

On the other hand, virtue tends to address the question of “How we should behave in general, not only in relation to others, but also in relation to ourselves and the wider society we find ourselves”.

So living a virtuous life can be related below:

  1. Living a virtuous life attempt to guide our human behavior by all means and also our philosophical and psychological understanding as human beings.

 

  1. Having virtue itself make us develop a certain quality of thought and behaviour that place us in a better relation to ourselves and the environment in which we find ourselves.

 

Here are the list of virtues we hope to focus here:

1.FORTITUDE-This is the  strength of mind, strength of character, moral strength and toughness of spirit.

2. TEMPERANCE– This is as moderation or voluntary self-restraint from something.

3. HONESTY– This is the quality of being consistent in truth. This is because honesty is but a commitment to tell the truth, no matter what, at all time.

4. COMPASSION-This is the quality of consideration for others.

  15. I believe some have a natural instinct to love and make better choices knowing the difference between right and wrong. And maybe those people have had a more secure parental love growing up and less hurt in their lives and maybe it’s that person’s temperament and how they respond to adversities. Others with more hurt and physical or emotional pain or for lack of parental guidance don’t even love themselves much less have the capacity to understand how to love another or have scruples of any kind. Sadly, I have been dealing with someone with little care for herself and even less for even those closest to her and the effects are decistating especially to her children. Thank you for your post. Very insightful.

      All human being have a conscious to know what is good/right and bad/wrong.

      I was able to understand your perspective about virtueous life in your comment in two ways:
      1. Those people have had a more secure parental love growing up and less hurt in their lives and maybe it’s that person’s temperament and how they respond to adversities.

      Yeah, I love the first one very much. I guess i fall in to that category. Parental training of a child with more education on virtueous life make the child to respond well on any adversities across his/her way.

      Yeah, this category belong to those who lack virtueous life and was not properly brought up in terms of parents training. They show no value or respect for some life.

  19. For me its pretty simple. Be compassionate towards yourself and others, practise gratitude for what you have, work hard but honestly for what you don’t, try not to do something to hurt someone else, keep an open mind.

  20. What is Man?
    In my analysis, man has seven dimensions. These are, 1. Physical, Mortal Being, 2. Mental Being, 3. Social Being, 4. Moral Being, 5. Spiritual Being, 6. Rational Being, and 7. Created Being. For example, Book of Genesis claims that God made man in His own image and for that reason, man is constituted as holy being with God’s nature. I make distinction between human nature and human behavior. I account for man’s evil, wicked, and cruel actions as products of ignorance. Man is alienated, separated, and estranged from his real, original, or true human nature. Hence, education can help man to know himself better and avoid dangers of ignorant actions.
