A VIEW ON WOMAN IN THE SOCIETY-FATE OF A MANGO FRUIT

images

FATE OF A MANGO FRUIT

Finally it fell down

But nobody noticed it

It started a decaying process

They noticed, but it was late

Its beauty become a stench

Decomposition was not optional

What would it have done?

To hang loose on its mother and still decompose?

Or fall to the ground and still decompose?

What is its fate?

Was it to be plucked, sucked

Or left to fall and decay?

STRUCTURAL REVIEW

FATE OF A MANGO FRUIT is a poem that tends to justify the mystery of fate. Fate extends its mysterious manipulation on the mango fruit.

LINE 1-Finally it fell down

Here the poems tells us that the  mango fruit finally fell down.

LINE 2-But nobody noticed it

This line tells us that nobody noticed it.

In this line the poet MORDI IFEANYI APEX uses symbolic expression of line 1 and 2 to portray a given life situation of the fate of a maiden who is ready and mature to mingle or even marry in case any man is ready

Line 2 of the poem tells us nobody noticed it. The poet uses it to mean the young maiden.

LINE 3-It started a decaying process

It started decaying process: Age and time is no longer a friend to this young maiden. A question is then put across thus: Is fate truly a blessing or a curse to this maiden. All these manipulation by fate, is it worth it? What is the actual plan of fate on all gifted young maiden, apart from ripening and falling, will this mango fruit be useful even after decomposition?

Most society/communities do not show value and respect for a woman who is long due for marriage and yet remain single. These women are sometimes abused by their fathers, brothers and sometimes their employers. Some communities see marriage as rare and highly privilege opportunity for a woman rather than men.

According to feminist scholars such as Al-Sa’ adawi(1990), Al-Marneisi(1997);Banani(1995) and Sharabi(1987), woman are connected to one single fine thread that unites them in one image; they feel subordinate and inferior to men.

This is why most women take marriage seriously like in African, a beautiful woman in her late 40’s who is not working and not educated and still single is often portrayed as been fully be witched or oppressed by “OBANJE” spirit .So for some young beautiful maidens, their uttermost desire is early marriage to avoid the stigma of being labelled a taboo.

The poet demystifies the mysteries of fate by reflecting on the working of fate on this maiden in the poem. To avoid being labelled a cursed woman or because she is a naturally subordinate being. She must attain marriage status. The poet understands that not everyone is allowed the fate of a marriage status. Time and age is no longer on the side of this maiden. At last she was nocticed and she finally got married. The poem tells us it was late.

LINE 4- They noticed, but it was late:

This was the fate of a beautiful maiden who got a late marriage. The late, marriage and even her age as the poet uses decomposition as when all things have an expiring date affect this young maiden marriage. Decomposition use by the poet portrays menopause and aging beauty which affect this young maiden.

LINE 5– Its beauty become a stench

Here the poet reveals how beauty was wasted and not utilized on the part of this young maiden. Will you blame the maiden for being a beauty not found and not utilized? This young maiden must have shown some effort to attract suitor as line 7-9 express thus:

“What would it have done?

To hang loose on its mother and still decompose?

Or fall to the ground and still decompose? “

Finally, the poet hails the omnipotent nature of fate and the several options fate has for a young unmarried woman as line 10-12 express:

What is its fate?

Was it to be plucked, sucked

Or left to fall and decay?

  1. I was not aware that in Africa if women are not married early they are given a taboo..

What I notice around now is most of the woman are educated and self dependent and now they don’t want to be tied to someone, they don’t want someone to bind them.. they want their Independence..

My take if you find a true love a person who care go ahead.. coz it said a life is complete when couples meet..

      By your statement :
“” i was not aware that in Africa if women are not married early they are given a taboo..”””

This is a typical thing in africa especially Nigeria where i come from. They feel you have to marry early to avoid such problem which they label as taboo.

I love this part very much when you said as i quote:
“” What I notice around now is most of the woman are educated and self dependent and now they don’t want to be tied to someone, they don’t want someone to bind them.. they want their Independence.. “””

Because of this most women have become FEMINIST that fight for there right for gender equility.

The educated and self independent don’t give marriage as an accomplishment of what life ask for.

But at the end, you rounded up it by saying something which touch me very much as i quote from you:
“””My take if you find a true love a person who care go ahead.. coz it said a life is complete when couples meet..”””

I agree with your last statement on this one.

      • Those are what they call feminist. They fight to have an independent life. That is the life.
        They fight for gender equality.

I love girls/women who are feminist.

Though am a man but a women gave birth to me.  So I respect then a lot.

I will love my own part of the contribution here and the feminist I have come across.

        Here is the little summary:

I asked a Muslim girl who is my friend on Facebook, an Algerian  girl. She is a blogger also.  After a long chat we discussed some recent issues about women in the Society and likewise chinanmanda adichie a popular feminist in USA(the writer of purple hibiscus)

So I throw up a question to her

Question- Can you be a Feminist?

        Her answer(reply)
One thing you should know about feminism is that there are many kinds of feminisms. Not all movements have the same goals and views. I can be a feminist. I might agree with some feminists like Adichie because they speak of troubles women go through in certain places and it makes sense. What I don’t agree with, though, is being a fanatical feminist, those who are fighting just for the sake of fighting. There needs to be a cause and as a Muslim woman, I fully believe that my religion has covered all what a woman needs to have. Islam assures all the rights of women and preserves them very well. So all what we need is to follow the rules of our conviction and work in accordance with them. And then we wouldn’t need a feminist movement at all. Thats my belief.

  2. Great poem and break down of each line! You have a amazing way with words and thank you for breaking each line down to explain it in detail. How I feel about the topic is there should be a mutual understanding of bringing the same amount or more to the table when it comes to a relationship. In a way I think the age of a woman is due to being able to carry children with minimal complications.

I’m an Indian and such cases are found even here… Once read this: A woman’s love and a woman’s life is her dictatorship not her democracy. She doesn’t need society’s approval for anything she does… Love❤️

  4. This was a great poem. Interesting metaphor… I was worried I wouldn’t see the comparison but I did after you broke it down. I tend to look at it in it’s entirety where the mango tree bore fruit… and that fruit though it fell has the potential to rise and grow into something beautiful… but this is a poem about women…

As the poet did. He just started from the tree part.

Thanks for your contribution here based on the mango growing as a fruit. I will see to that also. I recommend your idea here as i quote:

  5. It is sad that social ideology by some dictates to one their destiny and how to follow it, instead of letting oneself be what they wish to be, what one was meant to be…. in nature, when a seed is planted it will become what it is to be, not what someone wishes it to be.. 🙂

“My will shall shape the future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man’s doing but my own. I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before me or I can be lost in the maze.. My choice; my responsibility; win or lose, only I hold the key to my destiny”. Elaine Maxwell

I really appreciate and respect your opinion, no matter you agree with me or not.Because your opinion is always valuable to me.

I know social idealogy is one of the fact that lead to most of these woman problem in the society they find themselve.

I totally agree with such comment about the social idealogy:

“”It is sad that social ideology by some dictates to one their destiny and how to follow it, instead of letting oneself be what they wish to be, what one was meant to be “”

This statement was based on your view as the tree germinate to produce fruit.
Your comment about the nature stuff kind of love your views on it

“””in nature, when a seed is planted it will become what it is to be, not what someone wishes it to be..”””

But now, the african society do not believe in that, they believe when you ripe for marriage and nobody seems to ask your hand in marriage they believe you are being witch hurt or label it as a taboo.

Finally, you are good at attempting a good quote on many of my post. I love this one very much:

My will shall shape the future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man’s doing but my own. I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before me or I can be lost in the maze.. My choice; my responsibility; win or lose, only I hold the key to my destiny”. Elaine Maxwell

  7. The fate of the woman was decreed in Genesis chapter 3, but! No one that I know has realized that the woman is actually the flesh and bones of man–meaning? The woman is the CARNAL SELF of man! Willful Ignorance of such facts is the core of the problem. Man wants to control–Woman also wants to control. All? The works of Satan, but!
The works of Satan are now being exposed by the Power of love and wisdom from the Almighty Creator of our beings. There is HOPE. The hope of restoration. 🙂

      • I’m in awe of our Father’s doings. When I gave up ALL I had learned from my many, many ‘Bible Studies’ the Spirit of our Father took over the teaching in my heart. Since then I am able to see things from His sight. All learned with the power of my mind was the opposite of our Father’s meaning. It’s amazing because, once the TEACHER takes over, the Scriptures come ALIVE. Power to perform not according to what is generally understood, but! Power to do the things only He can do like changing us. The more methods we try to change ourselves the greater we become self-righteous. Can you imagine that? Think about it. Talk to Him about it. Ask Him and keep on asking to set things right for you. No one is supposed to be your teacher or your pastor or your leader. Yahushua was very clear about that. Matthew 23:8 but I ignored Him most of my life. I was following my Christian teachers not Yahushua, but! Father knew it. In His time? He set me right for me to strengthen the Brethren with the witness of His doings in my life. 🙂

As I went through your comment in the first 5 lines, you said something about the age of women in your island that are considered old maid. This is also within my region especially Nigeria settings. But our age bracket is from 28-40.

This is not right people should have right to marry and they should decide base on decision, not base on society views.

Because of this most women suffer from STIGMA.

I believe that some people may assume women will just always be there without people showing appreciation for the woman’s work and contributions just like fruit..fruit is not shown appreciation until it is inedible or rotted with no use..people forget and over look the fruits benefit. The woman is very beneficial ❤

Thank you. I am happy to see your comment and contribution on this post. It gives me a thoughtful thinking and am  happy for that.

That is always my intention to see a post that gives me thoughtful thinking about how we view women in the society.

As I read further I found some fascinating comment relating the fruit and women as I quote:

“””” I believe that some people may assume women will just always be there without people showing appreciation for the woman’s work and contributions just like fruit. “”””

The fruit serve as a symbolic item for women. I chose to use it because of it perception from people. Base on the falling, rotten and decay of the mango fruit.

I have to use a fruit and woman relationship base on the stages of life cycle of a mango tree.

At last the mango is still beneficial to human. So I guess all the women are still beneficial to the society at large.

Am happy you shared your views and contribution right now.

The value of women in the society is reduce due to some religions belief and society perception of women.

I tend to look at the mango tree in a way where the mango tree bore fruit and that fruit fell has the potential to rise and grow into something beautiful and has a value of a woman.

  10. I am very much of the opinion that a woman who does not marry, until past child-bearing age, still has the value of being a thinking, loving human being. After all, a widow, even in Middle Eastern society, still is considered desirable enough that her husband’s brother takes her into his home, albeit by tradition. Why, then, would a woman who has never married, for reasons of career or other family obligations, be denied the chance to marry late in life?

I found delight love in what you just said on my  post.

Am in total agreement with that first statement:

“””” I am very much of the opinion that’s a woman who does not marry, until past child-bearing age, still has the value of being a thinking, loving human being. “”””

Am happy for such comment about this post. Am happy how you connect the poem to Middle Eastern society.

      Thanks for that wonderful comment.

  11. Your use of symbolism is quite astute. The explanatory note was handy to breathe life to the poem. I can say without an iota of doubt that your writing has depth. Keep the good job and I sure will come back to read more and be edified.

  12. Very interesting! I have always wanted to find a true love and have children early in life. Because for me, it is ultimate happiness and fulfilled life. I do not care for a career or money, we are all born naked and we will all die in the end. My role as a woman is to birth and nurture my children, who will continue to exist in this world after my time here is over. My man’s job is to plant a seed, so the future generations could grow of it too, and plant their own seed. Man’s role is also to protect and provide. We are equal in value. But our roles are different. Man and woman need each other, to create a perfect partnership, which ensures survival of humankind.
That said, I do respect choices of some people to stay single and not produce an offspring. If that’s what makes them happy….

    • Hi
Thanks for commenting on my post. I appreciate your thoughtful response on the question put before you.

Thank you. I am happy to see your comment on this post. It gives me a thoughtful thinking and am  happy for that. That is always my intention to see a comment that gives me happiness and also a comment about a person view on a post/poem.

Am happy you shared at least a part of that view of women in the society.

What you said in your comment box about the post is true.

As I read through your comment, am in total agreement with this:

“””” I do not care for a career or money, we are all born naked and we will all die in the end. “”””

As I read further, man and women have a role to play in the society. Each role are different depending on there capabilities.

Toward the ending you draw our attention about marriage been a choice and not a do or die affair.

Sometimes people just conclude that a woman who don’t get married is like a cause and therefore she has a problem.

They have forgotten that Marriage is a choice. Is left for her to decide. Am in total agreement with this one:

“”” I do respect choices of some people to stay single and not produce an offspring. If that’s what makes them happy….. “””

Well, am happy you said your view about this.

      Good one. Keep motivating me.

      Cheers, TONI

  13. Hi
I wholeheartedly appreciate everything you’ve written.
Here I want to share my view towards value of persons.

Value lies in the eye of the beholder. Striving to be found valuable by another person is robbing the value you presently hold. One person will see your value immediately while another may never see your value. It is often the person we want to see our value or show us how valuable we are that is incapable of doing so. We therefore miss out or lose our own view of how much value we have.

This comes from someone who has actively sought for others, male and female, to view her as valuable and finally realized she was robbing herself of the real value she holds.

    Regards,
    Sanjib

    • Thanks for the response on the put to you.

Am the type who reads very inspired comment on my post. You comment  and explanation are quite OK about the post.

Your beautiful words just made my day OK now.

I feel blessed by what you said at the beginning of your comment as i quote:

“””” Value lies in the eye of the beholder. “”””

So this value are what society look up to in someone. The society has forgotten that every one is born different and ideology of everyone is different in terms of thinking, religious belief and classes( low class, medium class and higher class).

Every human portray a value in which people are tend to go for or against.

When this value depreciate like the mango tree,it is no longer good to eat.

Like the woman when her value like beauty, depreciate. People in the society are tend to ask some questions like she is not married or she is being labelled as a prostitute.

If she is a high class person, she being ask how she made her money up to that point in life.

If a low class women, she is being labelled as a cause of her ugly youthful life which is affecting her.

Another lovely part is how you answer your answer based on your value. Am happy you related the poem with value of each person in the society.

Finally, i love the last comment as I quote from you:

“””‘ This comes from someone who has actively sought for others, male and female, to view her as valuable and finally realized she was robbing herself of the real value she holds.””””

At last such women are robbed of such value as compared to the rotten mango or the mango that has fallen.

I found delight love in what you just said in regard to this post.

Thanks for answering the question put against you and for sharing you own views and contributions towards the poem/post.

Again such a beautiful way to express it on my blog/post.

      Keep the vibes on.

      THANKS Mr Nayaksanjib.

  14. Wonderful post Patrick. It was such a simple and yet profound piece.
I believe the fate of the mango is neither to stay with the tree and decompose, nor to fall to the ground and decompose.
I like to believe that the fate of the mango is to take charge of its own fate, and connect within (to the core seed), and start a new life, a new tree and create a new fate. I believe the mango does not need someone to pluck it or choose it in order to find fulfillment as a mango. An unchosen mango also is a part of nature and has a huge role in the system.
Having said that, I am an Indian brought in the Middle East. And I have been exposed to both these societies. I am deeply aware that choosing your own life is easier said than done for a vast majority of women who are brought up in traditional and cultural setups. Through my work now, I meet a lot of women who deeply believe that their fate is only to decompose and die if they are not chosen by a partner. And I pray that it all changes soon.

    • Am really sorry for the late response to your comment.
Just be busy all this while.

I just skimmed through your reply to the question put after you. And I must say, it really cool as you said.

As I read through I was able to deduce 3 or 4 notable point in your comment that touch me as I read through your own contribution on this poem.

This point are according to what you said in your comment. As I proceed in to it, I will back up this pont with my own contribution in relation to the mango and the mango tree.

      Let start off with;

      POINT 1:

“”” I believe the fate of the mango is neither to stay with the tree and decompose, nor to fall to the ground and decompose “””

Is very true for such fate of the mango tree. I understand you based your insight on “” DECOMPOSE “”

Since the mango is not ready to DECOMPOSED base on falling to the ground or still remain on the branches.

Then: what is the fate of the mango tree?

The right answer is that: RIPE and get plucked at the right time.

As I was deeply replying something came to my mind right now about relating it DECOMPOSITION to females in the society.

      Firstly-

“”””If the mango remain on the tree and get decompose that is bad also. “”””

In this part the women who who wait for her future husband to come and pluck her or ask her hand in marriage. She have to wait till she get married. If not she start getting old and loss her beauty and she become less attractive.

      Secondly

“””” If the mango fall to the ground and decompose that is bad also. “”””

In this part she is in to late marriage and her beauty has been decomposed base on rotten mango on the ground.

At this point she may suffer late marriage ,less attractive and suffer menopause.

Again if she didn’t get married at all. She may suffer from stigma from society who attack her and she is not likely to hold a position in the organization where she found herself.

My final say on this POINT 1
Is that whether it decompose on the tree or fall to the ground or neither of both. But something must be involve which I literally call RIPE.

      POINT 2:

“””” I like to believe that the fate of the mango is to take charge of its own fate, and connect within (to the core seed), and start a new life, a new tree and create a new fate. “”””

The POINT 2 is so provocative for me in the sense that the mango took it seriously whether decomposed or not I have to get something done this time.

I made reference to women also who feel marriage is MUST. Marriage is just a choice.

For the tree to start a new life , a new fate and a new core seed , all these relate to women who take marriage so seriously that they have to give birth to new ones and a “”” must get an husband “”” attitude.

Am in a total support of any feminists who preach equality of both men and women.

According to a popular literature book “””. Dear ijeawele or a feminist manifesto in fifteen suggestions “””

FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi says in her book:

“””” Never speak of marriage as an achievement. Find ways to make clear to her that marriage is not
an achievement, nor is it what she should aspire to. A marriage can be happy or unhappy, but it
is not an achievement. We condition girls to aspire to marriage and we do not condition boys to aspire to marriage,
and so there is already a terrible imbalance at the start. “”””

Because of this attitude the society as turned marriage as an achievement for women, which is not proper. Marriage should be a choice.

      POINT 3:

“””” I believe the mango does not need someone to pluck it or choose it in order to find fulfillment as a mango. An unchosen mango also is a part of nature and has a huge role in the system. “”””

Am still relating this part to women who still feel if they don’t get husband they have failed as a human being.

From the mango tree, the mango can be pluck or not. The mango can be ripe or unripe and still be plucked or not plucked so it depend on individual.

This is where I like in you comment as I read further:

“”” An unchosen mango also is a part of nature and has a huge role in the system. “””

Am relating the unchosen mango to women this time. In the sense that if they are not chosen in the society by men for marriage they can still be useful in the society (An unchosen mango also is a part of nature and has a huge role in the system.)

Am still in total support that women still have a say in the society apart from marriage. Teaching girls about keeping good moral in other to see an husband is quite funny.

But teach they about equality with men. I can get a prove on this According to a popular literature book “””. Dear ijeawele or a feminist manifesto in fifteen suggestions “””

FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi says in her book:

“”” You know that Igbo joke, used to tease
girls who are being childish – ‘What are you doing? Don’t you know you are old enough to find
a husband?’ I used to say that often. But now I choose not to. I say, ‘You are old enough to find
a job. Because I do not believe that marriage is something we should teach young girls to
      aspire to. “””””

What am saying is that the society has based women as an object of marriage. Which I know I totally disagreed.

      POINT 4:
“””” I meet a lot of women who deeply believe that their fate is only to decompose and die if they are not chosen by a partner. “”””

I guess this point is the most important to you becaus you try to relate to women whom you have come across in your country.

In this part the women are neglected in the society. She suffer stigma of not belonging to those who are married. She is not given any position in some organization. Gradually she suffer emotional problem and psychological problem. This affect her wellbeing leading in to illness which she cannot account for.

I guess this is the die and decompose you said earlier.

  16. As a women many of us are bought up and taught from a young age that the main goal is to get married to Prince Charming and play house . Not towards finding out who we really are and what we really want to be and do in life. Most of us have ultimately been brain washed unfortunately; leaving many women and girls feeling lost and undervalued if dothey do not have a significant other in their lives. I know many women that stay in toxic relationships just because they cant stand to be alone or even starting relationships way to young in life always thinking and making decisions based on what their bf is doing when really they should be concentrating on themselves.

The truth is from my experience, you get less grief from insecure women and predatory men when you are married or with a partner, you get included and excepted in social situations more because you are not seen as a threat.
As a women considered by society to be at the ripe stage in life, I often feel vulnerable and judged by society. Bombarded with questions towards my relationship status and seen as easy pickings for horny married male chauvinists who feel bright or entitled because they feel there is no threat of a male counterpart.

I think both ageism and sexism play a part in society labeling women with expiry dates.
It is right that we are not just baby making machines put here to serve men and but individuals with a lot to offer and share with the world on many levels a part form just our looks.I have not written love, marriage and children completely out of the book as they are still very much things that i would like to experience with the right person. Better still, I am not looking and am happy to continue finding out who i am and adding value to my life and the world around me in other ways that make me feel whole and special as person for who i am inside and not just as and object of sexual desire.

Loving yourself first is more important that anyone else loving you. Self- love is forever!

    • I just skimmed through your comment And I must say, it really cool as you said.

I saw a long and well defined comment on this post. I must say is really cool having you here on my blog.

      My pleasure Ms Louise Love

As I read through I was able to deduce 5 notable points in your comment that touch me as I read through your own contribution on this poem.

This point are according to what you said in your comment. As I proceed in to it, I will back up this point with my own contribution in relation in aspect of women in the society.

      Let start off with;

      POINT 1:

“””” As a women many of us are bought up and taught from a young age that the main goal is to get married to Prince Charming and play house. “””

The POINT 1 is so provocative for me in the sense that women and girls are made to take Marriage as an achievement and as a MOST thing.

I made reference to women also who feel marriage is a MUST. But No!!!!! No!!!!!!Marriage is just a choice.

Am in a total support of any feminists who propels feminism and gender equality.

According to a popular literature book “””. Dear ijeawele or a feminist manifesto in fifteen suggestions “””

FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi she says in her book:

“””” Never speak of marriage as an achievement. Find ways to make clear to her that marriage is not
an achievement, nor is it what she should aspire to. A marriage can be happy or unhappy, but it
is not an achievement. We condition girls to aspire to marriage and we do not condition boys to aspire to marriage,
and so there is already a terrible imbalance at the start. “”””

So the society as turned marriage as an achievement for women, which is not proper. Marriage should be a CHOICE thing not a MUST thing.

      POINT 2:

“””” Most of us have ultimately been brain washed unfortunately; leaving many women and girls feeling lost and undervalued if dothey do not have a significant other in their lives. I know many women that stay in toxic relationships just because they cant stand to be alone or even starting relationships way to young in life always thinking and making decisions based on what their bf is doing when really they should be concentrating on themselves “”””

Point 2 in your comment are quite provocative again. You just labelled women as been “” BRAIN WASHED “””

This part is so motivating for me because I have been able to understand that the society now make it compulsory for women to get married which I said earlier.
Marriage is a CHOICE thing and not a MUST thing. Due to this MUST thing of a marriage it now leaves many women and girls feeling lost and undervalued if they do not have a significant other( partner, husband etc ) in their lives.

Society have made women to always have this mindset of not able to stand alone that they need a significant other( partner, husband etc ).

This is a wrong ideology on the part of women. We have great women who stand alone and who are well to do in the society without men in there life.

As I went further in POINT 2 , I saw something so captivating:

“”” even starting relationships way to young in life always thinking and making decisions based on what their bf is doing when really they should be concentrating on themselves “”””

This came up as a result of not standing alone. Wanting to belong to the society which says a woman can’t stand without a man

This ideal of not standing alone have made them going in to relationship and lastly not concentrating on their main goals and values in society.

      POINT 3 :

“”””” As a women considered by society to be at the ripe stage in life, I often feel vulnerable and judged by society. Bombarded with questions towards my relationship status and seen as easy pickings for horny married male chauvinists who feel bright or entitled because they feel there is no threat of a male counterpart. “”””””

From my own point of view
Ripe stage in life for a woman can mean the point due for getting married.

      Or
The point of being aware that they are old enough to get married.

At this point the women are been subjected to vulnerable and judged by society.

Many questions comes in the mind of men/society which is based on their marital status as you said in your comment as I quote:

“””” Bombarded with questions towards my relationship status “”””

During this ripe stage of a women in her life she is been subjected to attacks from society who feel marriage is an achievement.

A successful and educated woman is been attacked and labelled because they feel she has a helping hand( man, husband, boy friend ).

Reverse is the case for a men. This time he is seen as a hardworking man without considering a helping hand( wife, woman, girlfriend).

Here we talk about gender equality. All things should be equal whether male or female.

      POINT 4:

“””” I think both ageism and sexism play a part in society labeling women with expiry dates. “”””

The last time I check we humans has an expiry date which is death.

The society are very wrong in labelling a women who clock past that age of marriage as expiry.

I have meet a lot of women who deeply believe that their fate is only to decompose( decompose here means attack from the society, less attractive, fading beauty, critical thinking and psychological problem )and die if they are not chosen by a partner.

I guess this POINT 4 is the most important to you because you try to relate to women whom you have come across and suffered from sexism and ageism.

In this part the women are neglected in the society. She suffer stigma of not belonging to those who are married. She is not given any position in some organization. Gradually she suffer emotional problem and psychological problem. This affect her wellbeing leading in to illness which she cannot account for.

      POINT 5:

“””””” It is right that we are not just baby making machines put here to serve men and but individuals with a lot to offer and share with the world on many levels apart form just our looks. I have not written love, marriage and children completely out of the book as they are still very much things that i would like to experience with the right person. Better still, I am not looking and am happy to continue finding out who i am and adding value to my life and the world around me in other ways that make me feel whole and special as person for who i am inside and not just as and object of sexual desire. “”””””

This last point just did a good analyses of women values to the society not only as a baby machine and a sex object to men.

Women also have a lot to offer to the society in terms of education, job, holding organization and position in offices etc.

Because of women looks, they are been treated as a special species in the society and they are been called weak vessels or referred to as female weakness.

Here is a quote to back up it up:

According to a popular literature book “””. Dear ijeawele or a feminist manifesto in fifteen suggestions “””

FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi says in her book:

      “””””””” Teach her, too, to
question the idea of women as a special species. I once heard an American politician, in his
bid to show his support for women, speak of how women should be ‘revered’ and
‘championed’ – a sentiment that is all too common.
Tell Chizalum that women actually don’t need to be championed and revered; they just need
to be treated as equal human beings. There is a patronizing undertone to the idea of women
needing to be ‘championed and revered’ because they are women. It makes me think of
chivalry, and the premise of chivalry is female weakness.

      “”””””””””””

      Note:

“”” Ms “””” was attached here to your name because of the way popular FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi says in her book:

According to a popular literature book “””. Dear ijeawele or a feminist manifesto in fifteen suggestions “””

      Here she says:

“”””””‘ Mrs’ is a title I dislike because Nigerian society gives it too much value. I have observed too many cases of men and women who proudly speak of the title of Mrs as though those who
are not Mrs have somehow failed at something. Mrs can be a choice, but to infuse it with as
much value as our culture does is disturbing. The value we give to Mrs means that marriage
changes the social status of a woman but not that of a man. (Is that perhaps why many women
complain of married men still ‘acting’ as though they were single? Perhaps if our society asked
married men to change their names and take on a new title, different from Mr, their behaviour
might change as well? Ha!) But more seriously, if you, a twenty-eight-year-old master’s degree
holder, go overnight frodo Ijeawele Eze to Mrs Ijeawele Udegbunam, surely it requires not just
the mental energy of changing passports and licences but also a psychic change, a new
‘becoming’? This new ‘becoming’ would not matter so much if men, too, had to undergo it.
I prefer Ms because it is similar to Mr. A man is Mr whether married or not, a woman is Ms
      whether married or not.

NOTE: “”” Ms “””” was attached here to your name because I believe you are a feminist and you run a feminist blog and also the way the popular FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi says in her book:

Feminists are playing a great role in this area..

      • The women are independent where i live but i have read about many communities and places.
It depends on your thinking (how you want others should treat you) and society/family thinking(how they treat them) By our thinking we can change the world.
By God’s grace I have supportive people around me and I have never felt (which i have only read) that i am weaker part of society instead my family always say that “You are stronger part of family”
Actually i would rather say to those cruel people that women are the stronger part of society, they are multitasking, they have much more capibility than others. So considering them as a taboo is ridiculous.

  19. What can a sole woman do in a society but become a person? I don’t think we need to put some label to women only to indicate what part they should partake in, after all women are individual first who had the freewill to choose what they wanted to become. Isn’t that what’s actually wrong in our society? Playing roles assigned to us by the society the moment we were born. We should look more into someone’s soul and what they truly aspire. After all, everyone has their own sense of their selves.

    • I just skimmed through your comment and the comment was wow. And I must say, it really cool.

      OK that is really true.
Putting a label on women on what to do in the society is not proper.

A woman at her late thirties is already due for marriage because the society has made it that way.

The society has for gotten marriage is just a CHOICE and is not a MOST things.

Am touched by this part where you said:

“””Playing roles assigned to us by the society the moment we were born. We should look more into someone’s soul and what they truly aspire. After all, everyone has their own sense of their selves. “”””

Women have right to marry or not. So society does not put pressure on them.

Here in African continent, its a taboo. But they have failed to understand that marriage is a choice. They forgot its about searching for the right partner. Marriage is a sacred institution.

Taking a step in to it. Marriage is not an achievement. People/society have taken it as an achievement in the part of women.

Independent women in our society are seen as not attain a certain height in the society without been married. Which me personally I see it as a fault in the society.

  22. I like the depth behind the words you write! So many details, it almost reminds me of Haruki Murakami’s books (he has a thing for details, indeed)! Also, I believe that women have always been seen as less than men by the society. It’s not gender equality that annoys me, honestly, it is the need for women to prove themselves in order to be respected. A strong woman never seeks validation, but respect for her own moral values and principles is something undoubtedly required, in my opinion. 🙂
Keep up with the awesome work! 😛

I really appreciate and respect your opinion, no matter you agree with me or not.Because your opinion is always valuable to me.

Am so please by that wonderful compliment in the beginning of your comment where you said as I quote:

“””‘ I like the depth behind the words you write! So many details, it almost reminds me of Haruki Murakami’s books (he has a thing for details, indeed)! “””’

As I went further your own contribution states that women are seen as less and weak people by the society.

For me personally, I kick against the fact that women are weak and less important in the society. We are equal. No body have the right to detect if a person is less or weak. Society has made it look like that. Even some of the women has accepted this fact that they are weak and less important. There by making them weaker vessels.

Because of this it gave rise to gender equality that is been declared by feminist.

Again because of this weak and less attributes to women. Women are also treated with sympathy, special species and they are given different treatment.

According to a popular literature book “””. Dear ijeawele or a feminist manifesto in fifteen suggestions “””

FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi she says in her book:

      “”””””” Teach her, too, to

chivalry, and the premise of chivalry is female weakness.

      “”””””

The society again has made male patriarchy’s so important that women are not given any position. Again also in terms of power and authority, the society has made men as the point to handle such. Even in the school setting, government establishment and private firm. Women are seen as less and weak to accept such position.

According to a popular literature book “””. Dear ijeawele or a feminist manifesto in fifteen suggestions “””

FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi she says in her book:

“””””””” But here is a sad truth: our world is full of men and women who do not like powerful
women. We have been so conditioned to think of power as male that a powerful woman is an
aberration. And so she is policed. We ask of powerful women – is she humble? Does she
smile? Is she grateful enough? Does she have a domestic side? Questions we do not ask of
powerful men, which shows that our discomfort is not with power itself, but with women. We
judge powerful women more harshly than we judge powerful men “””””””””

Because of the ideal of power, authority and patriarchy’s, this again gave rise to different opinion to make women agitating for gender equality thereby forming the word FEMINISM and FEMINIST.

As I went further I was also to pick a good point again in your comment stating about morals, virtues and values. Here is the point as I quote:

“”””””‘” A strong woman never seeks validation, but respect for her own moral values and principles is something undoubtedly required, in my opinion.

      “”””””””

According to a popular literature book “””. Dear ijeawele or a feminist manifesto in fifteen suggestions “””

FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi she says in her book:

      According to the 8th suggestion-

      1. Teach her to reject likeability. Her job is not to make herself likeable, her job is to be her full
self, a self that is honest and aware of the equal humanity of other people.

      2. So instead of teaching Chizalum to be likeable, teach her to be honest. And kind. And brave. Encourage her to speak her mind, to say what she really thinks, to speak
truthfully. And then praise her when she does.

I will love to ask you some simple questions:

      1. How are women treated in your own society/ country?

      2. Are you OK with the idea of gender equality that is do agitated by feminist

  23. Loved reading your poem and the breakdown of each line. How I kind of took it was that once the woman was ready to mingle, she went unnoticed and as she began to age, her ability to have children was starting to become less and less. When she finally got noticed, it was too late. Not only was she much older but also had a very low chance of being able to reproduce. That was just my take. Loved the history facts as well!

Thank you. I am happy to see your comment. It gives me a thoughtful thinking and am  happy for that. That is always my intention to write a story/post that gives someone a creative thinking.

That is women and they suffering in the society in terms of marriage and reproduction.

All blame her for getting late for marriage. Now she has married she is still blame for given birth late. This issues has been for years.

They all take the blame forgetting the fact that for reproduction the man is the one to be blamed in terms of male or female child.

I will love to ask a simple question:

What are your idea about women in your society or where you stay?

        • Thanks for the comment. Thank for the reply also. Thanks for taking your time to read.

A brilliantly written and moving comment/reply based on the post about women honour.

I just skimmed through your comment and the word you used are wow.

It give women a little rethink about cooking and house/domestic chores. Which are meant to be shared equally between the two partners.

According to a popular literature book “””. We should all be feminist “””

FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi she says in her book:

“””””””””” I know a woman who hates domestic work, but she pretends that she likes it, because
she has been taught that to be “good wife material,” she has to be—to use that Nigerian
word—homely. And then she got married. And her husband’s family began to complain
that she had changed. Actually, she had not changed. She just got tired of pretending to
          be what she was not.
The problem with gender is that it prescribes how we should be rather than
recognizing how we are. Imagine how much happier we would be, how much freer to be
our true individual selves, if we didn’t have the weight of gender expectations.
Boys and girls are undeniably different biologically, but socialization exaggerates the
differences. And then starts a self-fulfiling process. Take cooking, for example. Today,
women in general are more likely to do housework than men— cooking and cleaning.
But why is that? Is it because women are born with a cooking gene or because over
years they have been socialized to see cooking as their role? I was going to say that
perhaps women are born with a cooking gene until I remembered that the majority of
famous cooks in the world—who are given the fancy title of “chef”—are men

But what matters even more is our attitude, our mind-set.
What if, in raising children, we focus on ability instead of gender? What if we focus on
          interest instead of gender?

I know a family who has a son and a daughter, a year apart in age, both brilliant at
school. When the boy is hungry, the parents say to the girl, Go and cook Indomie
noodles for your brother. The girl doesn’t like to cook Indomie, but she is a girl and she
has to. What if the parents, from the beginning, taught both children to cook Indomie?
Cooking, by the way, is a useful and practical life skill for a boy to have—I’ve never
thought it made much sense to leave such a crucial thing—the ability to nourish oneself
—in the hands of others. “”””””””””””””

This is about the gender equality feminist preach and agitate for.

As for me cooking, domestic chores- cleaning sweeping, mopping are supposed to be shared equally.

Cooking was never meant for women. Anybody can cook whether male or female.

As for me I have been given the orientation about Gender equality right from the onset.

“””” I was brought up by a mother who inculcated in me a deep respect for women. I believe that the inequality that women have faced through the centuries and today as well is a failure of all societies, and especially the mindset of male patriarchy. I cannot call myself anything other than a person who believes strongly in justice and gender-rights for women everywhere.I believe strongly in the cause of the emancipation of women in all societies that repress women and pursue the same practices of male domination.

Please keep the motivational word coming.

  24. 1. It is only natural we all age but aging shouldn’t place limitations on relationships, abilities and vision. Unfortunately in the society we live in today, it does
    2. Women in society are so capable of si much more but instead we are caught up on the issues if feminism which shouldn’t even be a topic but is and within itself there are other issues. But outside feminism women are power houses

    • Hi

Thank you. I am happy to see your comment. It gives me a thoughtful thinking and am  happy for that.

In reference to question one, I totally agree and support what you said about age and it limitations in terms of relationship and marriage.

As I went further I saw the answer to question 2 also.
That moved me very well. You just took time to construct the word and answer very well.

I know if all women are treated equally nothing like feminism and issues about feminist will occur.

This feminist you see are agitating for GENDER EQUALITY

For me my own point on this is that:

I was brought up by a mother who inculcated in me a deep respect for women. I believe that the inequality that women have faced through the centuries and today as well is a failure of all societies, and especially the mindset of male patriarchy. I cannot call myself anything other than a person who believes strongly in justice and gender-rights for women everywhere. It would be arrogant of me to call myself a feminist, though I believe strongly in the cause of the emancipation of women in all societies that repress women and pursue the same practices of male domination.

      • Women are human just like men. As human rights are been protected, the elite and learned are waking up to the reality of woman’ s right. Gone are those days when women are slaves…. Be blessed and good night.

  25. I believe women have equal worth and dignity and rights as men. I believe a wife is to be honored, valued, served and protected by her husband. He is to encourage her to be all that God made her to be. However, I am a sinner at times and fall short of serving my wife as she deserves. My wife forgives me and I try again. A husband is not superior to his wife. A husband is a servant-leader to his wife. His top priority is her best interest not his self-interest. Outside of marriage, a woman is not submissive to men, i.e. she is equal to men and free to pursue what God has in mind for her. Inside marriage she is equal to her husband. But someone has to have final responsibility if there is disagreement on something of importance. God has given the final responsibility and decision to the husband, who will be accountable to God for deciding in his wife’s best interest, not his self-interest.

    • Thanks for the uplifting comment on this post. Am very please by such awesome comment.

      As I critically read through your comment, I was able to pick out 3points that touch me about you comment on this post. I so much like this part in the your comment as I bring out the points below;

      1. I believe women have equal worth and dignity and rights as men.

      2. I believe a wife is to be honored, valued, served and protected by her husband.

      3. A husband is a servant-leader to his wife. His top priority is her best interest not his self-interest.

This was an interesting well written comment on my post.

Thank you for using yourself as an example in terms of equality with women.

  26. This was an interesting well written read. Thank you for choosing to analyse this poem and for bringing it to a wider platform to encourage discussion.

Firstly this is solely my own opinion as we all see poems through our own personal lens.
This poem makes me angry. If I compare women to fruit in this particular poem and follow it through as the fate of women in society, it does make me angry because it perpetuates the belief that a woman’s reason to exist or to have meaning is to be found, plucked and consumed.

And i acknowledge that perhaps that is its intention – to describe the present state of affairs and maybe incense the reader to make it change.

But if I am to see us, women, as fruit then I will add to this poem and remind the reader that the fruit that is not plucked nor snatched but allowed to blossom and finally fall and decompose, returns back to earth and grows once more strong and tall. If a bird plucks the fruit, it is rewarded with its sweetness and provides nourishment in that way.

My point is that we are all people and not defined by preconceived notions of delegated roles assigned by gender.

There are so many successful women who have achieved things that I can only dream of, and it matters not to me if she is married, single, divorced, young, old or strong and loud or soft and gentle. Their accomplishments added to our world.

So, let the fruit be bruised, plucked or untouched and fall where they may – it matters not. The point is that it was.

All opinions and contribution are welcome.

It gives me a thoughtful thinking and am  happy for that.

I appreciate that first comment on my works:

“”””” This was an interesting well written read. Thank you for choosing to analyse this poem and for bringing it to a wider platform to encourage discussion. “””””‘”

That is always my intention to write a story/post/ poem that gives someone a creative thinking.

Your opinion/contributions on this poem are highly welcome.

As I went further in to your comment I saw a captivating approach/point about your view of women using the mango fruits.

From your own point am able to divide it in to 3.

Point 1- Firstly this is solely my own opinion as we all see poems through our own personal lens. This poem makes me angry. If I compare women to fruit in this particular poem and follow it through as the fate of women in society, it does make me angry because it perpetuates the belief that a woman’s reason to exist or to have meaning is to be found, plucked and consumed.

Point 2- But if I am to see us, women, as fruit then I will add to this poem and remind the reader that the fruit that is not plucked nor snatched but allowed to blossom and finally fall and decompose, returns back to earth and grows once more strong and tall. If a bird plucks the fruit, it is rewarded with its sweetness and provides nourishment in that way.

Point 3- My point is that we are all people and not defined by preconceived notions of delegated roles assigned by gender. There are so many successful women who have achieved things that I can only dream of, and it matters not to me if she is married, single, divorced, young, old or strong and loud or soft and gentle. Their accomplishments added to our world.

Here is my own contribution or review in regards to your comment.

      POINT 1

      In respect to your statement:

“”””‘””” This poem makes me angry. If I compare women to fruit in this particular poem and follow it through as the fate of women in society, it does make me angry because it perpetuates the belief that a woman&s reason to exist or to have meaning is to be found, plucked and consumed. “”””””

Am not here to make someone angry. This is a poem based on illustrations using the mango tree as a comparison to women.

Am really sorry if you are angry.

      POINT 2:

“””” But if I am to see us, women, as fruit then I will add to this poem and remind the reader that the fruit that is not plucked nor snatched but allowed to blossom and finally fall and decompose, returns back to earth and grows once more strong and tall. If a bird plucks the fruit, it is rewarded with its sweetness and provides nourishment in that way.

      “”””””””

As I proceed in to it, I will back up this point with my own contribution in relation to the mango and the mango tree.

From my own understanding I was able to spit your own POINT 2 in to 3 parts:

Part 1: “”” I believe the fate of the mango is neither to stay with the tree and decompose, nor to fall to the ground and decompose “””

Part 2 : “”””If the mango remain on the tree and get decompose that is bad also. “”””

Part 3: “””” If the mango fall to the ground and decompose that is bad also. “”””

Part 4: “””” I like to believe that the fate of the mango is to take charge of its own fate, and connect within (to the core seed), and start a new life(blossom), a new tree and create a new fate. “”””

      Part 5 :

“””” I believe the mango does not need someone to pluck it or choose it in order to find fulfillment as a mango. An unchosen mango also is a part of nature and has a huge role in the system. “”””

      Let start off with:

      Firstly
      PART 1:

“”” I believe the fate of the mango is neither to stay with the tree and decompose, nor to fall to the ground and decompose “””

Is very true for such fate of the mango tree. I understand you based your insight on “” DECOMPOSE “”

Since the mango is not ready to DECOMPOSED base on falling to the ground or still remain on the branches.

Then: what is the fate of the mango tree?

The right answer is that: RIPE and get plucked at the right time.

As I was deeply replying something came to my mind right now about relating it DECOMPOSITION to females in the society.

      Secondly
      PART 2:

“”””If the mango remain on the tree and get decompose that is bad also. “”””

In this part the women who who wait for her future husband to come and pluck her or ask her hand in marriage. She have to wait till she get married. If not she start getting old and loss her beauty and she become less attractive.

      Thirdly
      PART 3:

“””” If the mango fall to the ground and decompose that is bad also. “”””

In this part she is in to late marriage and her beauty has been decomposed base on rotten mango on the ground.

At this point she may suffer late marriage ,less attractive and suffer menopause.

Again if she didn’t get married at all. She may suffer from stigma from society who attack her and she is not likely to hold a position in the organization where she found herself.

      Fourthly:
      Part 4:

“””” I like to believe that the fate of the mango is to take charge of its own fate, and connect within (to the core seed), and start a new life(blossom), a new tree and create a new fate. “”””

The Part 4 is so provocative for me in the same the mango tree took it seriously whether decomposed or not I have to get something done this time.

I made reference to women also who feel marriage is MUST. Marriage is just a choice.

For the tree to start a new life , a new fate and a new core seed , all these relate to women who take marriage so seriously that they have to give birth to new ones and must get an husband.

Am in a total support of any feminists.

Marriage should be a choice.

      Part 5:

“””” I believe the mango does not need someone to pluck it or choose it in order to find fulfillment as a mango. An unchosen mango also is a part of nature and has a huge role in the system. “”””

Am still relating this part to women who still feel if they don’t get husband they have failed as a human being.

From the mango tree, the mango can be pluck or not. The mango tree can be ripe or unripe and still be plucked or not plucked.

Getting married does not make women worthy enough. Like wise unmarried women.

My final say on this POINT 2
Is that whether it decompose on the tree or fall to the ground or neither of both. But something must be involve which I literally call RIPE.

      POINT 3 :

“”””” My point is that we are all people and not defined by preconceived notions of delegated roles assigned by gender. There are so many successful women who have achieved things that I can only dream of, and it matters not to me if she is married, single, divorced, young, old or strong and loud or soft and gentle. Their accomplishments added to our world. “”””””””

      In reference to POINT 3:
We have various women in our world today who have accomplish much in term of education, science and technology. Whether married, single, divorce, old and young. They all add benefit to the society at large. No one should be neglected base on gender.

For me I preach gender equality.

The idea of gender role I don’t agree with it personally.

Here is a little draft from our renowned feminist.

According to a popular literature book “””. Dear ijeawele or a feminist manifesto in fifteen suggestions “””

FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi she says in her book:

      Third Suggestion
Teach her that the idea of ‘gender roles’ is absolute nonsense. Do not ever tell her that she
should or should not do something because she is a girl.
‘Because you are a girl’ is never a reason for anything ever “””””””

Another idea of gender roles is that saying that COOKING are meant for women.

No No No No No……….that is a wrong perception of people in the society.

COOKING are not meant for women. For me personally I disagree with that perception from people.

Another aspect of gender roles is that girls are condition to be weak and are left with domestics chores in the house. It’s high time we shared it equally. Boys and girls can domestics chore at home.

Here is a quote from our own feminist.

FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi she says in her book: Dear ijeawele or a feminist manifesto in fifteen suggestions

      Third suggestion:

The knowledge of cooking does not come pre-installed in a vagina. Cooking is learned.
Cooking – domestic work in general – is a life skill that both men and women should ideally
have. It is also a skill that can elude both men and women. We also need to question the idea of marriage as a prize to women, because that is the basis
of these absurd debates. If we stop conditioning women to see marriage as a prize, then we
would have fewer debates about a wife needing to cook in order to earn that prize.
It is interesting to me how early the world starts to invent gender roles.

Another excerpt/draft from her book also.

FEMINIST Adichie Chimanmanda Ngozi she says in her book: Dear ijeawele or a feminist manifesto in fifteen suggestions

      Third suggestion:
Gender roles are so deeply conditioned in us that we will often follow them even when they
chafe against our true desires, our needs, our happiness. They are very difficult to unlearn, and
so it is important to try to make sure that Chizalum rejects them from the beginning. Instead of
letting her internalize the idea of gender roles, teach her self-reliance. Tell her that it is
important to be able to do for herself and fend for herself. Teach her to try to fix physical things
when they break. We are quick to assume girls can’t do many things. Let her try. She might not
fully succeed, but let her try.

Just to clarify – being angry by the poem is a GOOD thing. Being angry means being aware – being aware means taking action and that is what is needed to change anything in this world.

  27. Beautiful and symbolic poem. Very good analysis of its meaning, too. As a person who believes in the original meaning of the word feminism = equal rights, opportunities and duties for all genders (women, men and trans), and not any gender supremacy, I feel sad that women are still being too co-dependent on men, being forced to marry in many world countries. Where is women’s freedom if a woman does not freely choose a partner? If, as a woman, you do not find that partner, why are you stigmatised in certain societies for remaining single and alone? Because you are not worth as you are not bringing children to the world when ours is an overpopulated world? Why are women excessively valued for their youth and physical beauty? What about women’s beauty of their inner souls and minds? The latter are much more important. What is a person’s external beauty (a woman’s, a man’s or a trans’) if they have corrupted souls and minds? Love, kindness and intelligence are much more important in any human being on earth.

Thank you! I appreciate your thoughtful comment on this post.

Am in total support in reference to marriage discussion you brought out, I totally agree and support what you said about and it. Why we a society be worried about the statues of a women(single or married or unmarried). Again the society worries about the initial of a woman also(miss or Mrs or Ms).

Here in Nigeria women also go through the pain and stigma if not married at the appointed time.

I made reference to women also who feel marriage is MUST thing. Marriage is just a CHOICE thing.

It is only natural we all age but aging shouldn’t place limitations on relationships, abilities and vision. Unfortunately in the society we live in today, it does. Which is not suppose to be.

Here in African continent, its a taboo. But they have failed to understand that marriage is a choice. They forgot its about searching for the right partner.

Putting a label on women on what to do in the society is not proper. They are human beings.

A woman at her late thirties is already due for marriage because the society has made it that way.

The society has for gotten marriage is just a CHOICE and is not a MOST things.

I have to bring out another quotation to back it up again.

“””Playing roles assigned to them by the society the moment they were born. Instead let look more into someone’s soul and what they truly aspire. After all, everyone has their own sense of their selves. “”””

Every one is quit different both in ideology and religious thinking

So therefore, Marriage is a sacred institution.Taking a step in to it. Marriage is a not an achievement. People/society have taken it as an achievement in the part of women.

Independent women in our society are seen as not attain a certain height in the society without been married. Which me personally I see it as a fault in the society.

This made me to support our well renowned NIGERIA female feminist.

Marriage should be a CHOICE thing.

Am still relating this part to women who still feel if they don’t get husband they have failed as a human being.

Getting married does not make women worthy enough. Like wise unmarried women also.

As I went further in to your comment I saw some thought provoking questions the society need to answer concerning women?

      1. Why are women excessively valued for their youth and physical beauty?

      2. What about women’s beauty of their inner souls and minds?

      3. What is a person’s external beauty (a woman’s, a man’s or a trans’) if they have corrupted souls and minds?

Let me back it up with some good quotations stating about morals, virtues and values. Here are the quotations:

“”””””‘” A strong woman never seeks validation, but respect for her own moral values and principles is something undoubtedly required, in my opinion.

Another backup is my own black Nigeria feminist.

And kind. And brave. Encourage her to speak her mind, to say what she really thinks, to speak truthfully. And then praise her when she does.

      “”””””””’

Lastly, I was touched by these last statement of yours. But k have to add to it.

In all we are saying what we just need are Love, kindness and intelligence which are much more important in any human being on earth.

I will love to ask you some simple questions:

      1. How are women treated in your own society/ country?

  29. Good evening dear,

It is very pathetic in some places ,women are not given same respect, reason is very simple internal existence matter to opposite gender , matter of fact this is not happening in all place.

Why i said patterns of life dear, how and where one person is grown in which community and society that impact the thinking of one individual person , it makes him or her narrow minded or open minded person.

As per me giving everyone equal opportunity is better challenges within the society , room to improve for all.

Example about myself:- in my family tree we are having many males but few females, our parents treat us equally same like boys, sit up, push up, jogging, punishment if did not got up to mark achievement in any venture.

It is all about understand within the family members, family discipline, culture, awareness how to maintain and keep a balance between each and every child.

As per me , father always aware their own children capacity to handle things, this told by my own father, according to it he will distribute the responsibility of the home, the who is much naughty , they get great responsibility as father can read a child mind perfectly other than anyone else.

Abuse within the family members, appearing in high scale this season because children and parents don’t have understand, education level is low in many place, communication errors is a big disaster.

My experience if anyone is shouting or getting anger , let him talk, allow him take out his aggression.

These days Many don’t know what is happening to their family member , why anger rule over them, actually anger means high blood pressure, where one person lose control does everything and anything.

Such a situations, family member need to stay calm, let him talk never stop him,
What a while calm him down , allow him to sit immediately give him low blood pressure drink or fruit to eat. He will improve and home will be in peace, as he will understand everyone love and care him.

I am sharing with you my experience here today:- when i was talking to a mother age 55. she always say to me, her daughter never listen to her, she goes out of control by seeing own daughter behaviours , she want to hit the girl.

My first question are you having high blood pressure problem, she replied me Yes, i told her , your anger is not about your daughter but the sickness within yourself , which you cannot explain to anyone, monitor your blood pressure daily, i given her food list of lowering down her blood pressure, she is calm now, no more anger, relationship with daughter is improving slowly,

    Human behaviours are control internally.

Pardon me, i noted now how long i have wrote, if i start talking never stop . Please don’t mind. So abusive internal or external are depend on environment, food , parents and teachers .

Thank you so much for reading my long comments, hope i have not made anyone get bored with me here.

Have a nice evening to all.
    Best regards
    Sks

    • I just went through your post and the word you used are wow. And I must say, it really cool, it gives people a chance to think about women in the society based on the mango tree.

Fantastic and  amazing comment to the post. Just short and straight forward.

I guess you did a good and personal analysis of the poem.

You are such a phenomenal person with such incredible analysis about the poem.

Am so glad you took you time to comment on it.
I will love to ask a simple question.

What are the views about women in the society?

I will live to see a wonderful and unique response to the question put after you.

Please keep the motivational word coming.

Am highly motivated this evening and such comment on my blog.
I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing day Miss/Mrs Joy.

  30. 🙂 I like Jesus’s point of view. The story of the woman at the well (John, chapter 4) is my favorite in the whole Bible. He saw people as people and loved this woman’s soul just because she was human. He was willing to interact with her publicly and respect her (in spite of her sin) in a time when many ordinary men would not have done so.

There are obvious differences in the way men and women live out their lives, particularly in some cultures, but in God’s forever-looking eyes, gender, race, nationality, wealth and so on doesn’t matter.

I’m glad to live in a time and place where women have many opportunities. But, for the many in this world (male and female) who do not, there is still the opportunity for heaven. No one but the individual herself or himself can take that away.

    Blessings!!

Such an awesome way of replying someone. Thanks. Again

I love your introduction in your comment. Am happy you backed it up biblically to prove your point about women in the society.

I must say that you are probably one of the excellent bloggers on WordPress that write inspired comment on ones blog.

Going further in to your comment, another point you made again about:

I get all the views and points since you are backing it up biblically.

Thanks again for the response you gave to the question put after you.

      You too blessings.

      You are welcome Mrs/Miss Joy
